The prolonged silence to such question has been thus far the loudest and the most direct form of answer provided by the Republicans. They all know Mr. Trump is corrupt, incompetent, a liar and a crook and yet they refuse to do what’s required by the Constitution.
And the Democrats fear that to perform their Constitutional duty would be a political suicide. The irony would probably be funny if this matter weren’t important.
1.- The Democrats’ fear is unfounded.
The main reason Nancy Pelosi and a few veterans in the Democrat Party are cautious about beginning the impeachment of Donald Trump is because they believe the Senate would not go along.
They believe Trump would walk away unscathed, probably in a stronger position to easily win re-election. That fear is unfounded. Such fear comes from the outcome of the 1998 impeachment of Bill Clinton; Mr. Clinton was not removed from office and his approval rating jumped to over 70%. What is the likelihood for such outcome to happen in the case of Donald Trump?
