Immediately after the 2018 mid-term elections, in fact, the very next day, Donald Trump forced Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General to resign his post. No one can claim to be surprised by the move. For over 18 months now, Donald Trump had hounded the Attorney General because he had recused himself from overseeing the Special Counsel’s investigation. Everyone interprets the firing of Jeff Sessions, a move which marks the beginning of the end of the Mueller’s investigation. The investigation was always the big elephant in the room every time Mr. Trump made any move which seems to indicate he is working to get rid of Robert Mueller. Besides, early on, he did ask the White House counsel to shut down the investigation, which he refused.
