The Trump’s phenomenon should serve as a reminder to us all of the grim reality, the country comprises two major political parties indeed: the Democratic Party and the Anti-Democratic Party (or ADP, formerly referred to as the Republican Party or GOP); ADP has worked openly for the past decade to weaken our democracy, and at times blatantly obvious working to completely do away with the Constitution despite frequently referring to it in debates about gun control.
The display on January 6, 2021 of a group of seditionists and outlaws on the streets of the Capital, incited by an outgoing president who lost his re-election bid is seared in our brains and will be sealed in the annals of history as perhaps the darkest period in the existence of the Republic, second only to the period of slavery; that moment could have easily been interpreted, perceived or even translated as an anomaly of our democracy. After all, 250 years ago, the founders of this Republic anticipated that we as a country might have to deal with similar predicaments in which the president of the United States would attempt to subvert democracy and violate the oath of office he took to protect and defend the Republic.
