He began by making two very simple statements, as if he were addressing second graders. He preluded the presentation as follows:

1.- what I am about to say could sound unbelievable, crazy even but I assure you… (he didn’t finish the sentence, there was a long pause before he continued)

2.- every detail of what brings me here to Washington has been examined, analyzed, dissected, re-examined. A third party was called in to provide some insights, to uncover what my team could have missed.

After weeks of consulting, research and analysis, after exhausting every possible explanation for a phenomenon we now call The Phenom, our research team back home has come to a unanimous consensus: we are beyond questioning The Phenom. (an expression which will become obvious shortly) We are trying to understand it.
