
One organization leading the way in black gun ownership is (NAAGA) The National African American Gun Association. Association president Philip Smith told NPR “I believe that the best way to stop someone with a gun other than law enforcement is to have a gun yourself”.
The idea of firearms being the deciding factor in the survival of black people in America is far from comforting. Yet the history of guns and chattel slavery are uniquely entwined. Increased black second amendment activism might be the first step in changing that legacy.
