Eventually, Donald Trump’s behavior culminated to the inevitable, his impeachment, another opportunity for the Republican Legislators to do the Constitutional duty they all took an oath before entering their respective offices. They again proved to the nation they don’t give a f*ck about the Constitution of the United States or the Rule of Law.
They said it publicly over and over and over. Mitch McConnell, Senate majority leader worked shamelessly to make certain the nation witnessed where he and the Republican Party stand: not to protect the Constitution, not to defend our democracy but rather to shield a man who doesn’t give a rat ass about our established institutions. As such, it was not a little tiny bit surprising they all voted to prevent calling witnesses – during Trump’s impeachment trial – that could provide firsthand account of Donald Trump’s corruption and crime against the United States. They all voted to shield Trump from being held accountable.
