Follow @mducheineyLindsey Graham, Chair of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate said he doesn’t care what witnesses testified regarding Trump’s criminal behavior in the Ukraine scandal, he’s already made up his mind. Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader who is responsible to handle the impeachment process said he is working in locked step with the White House; he is coordinating with Trump’s attorney on how to manage the process, a stance which is in stark contrast with the Constitution of the United States. Other Republicans in both Houses have claimed that Donald Trump did nothing wrong when he attempted to bribe the president of Ukraine; others said he was in his right to do so. The Republican constituents – supporters of Donald Trump – have all echoed Trump’s claim the impeachment is a sham. Notwithstanding the overwhelming amount of evidence which proves Trump committed crimes in the Oval Office, Republicans consider him the savior they’ve always wanted for Christmas.
As of this writing, the House is debating the rules for impeachment of Donald Trump and will vote on the only two articles (Obstruction of Congress, Abuse of Power) drafted in the Judiciary Committee. According to various sources, the Democrats have the votes to pass both articles of impeachment. (Update: Donald J. Trump is impeached on both articles – Abuse of Power & Obstruction of Congress – on December 18, 2019, a day shy 21 years ago of Bill Clinton’s impeachment. Bill Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998 on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice).
