As it should be obvious by now, Republican Legislators have completely abandoned the job for which they were elected. They have completely ignored the Constitution for one simple reason: to keep their jobs even to the detriment of the country. The country has witnessed the daily platitude of the Republicans, offering themselves in service to the Trump’s administration. To hell with the rule of law! They say. To hell with the Constitution! To hell with the constituents!
- The idea that Republicans are patriots is just that, an idea
- The idea that Republicans are Christian is just that, an idea
- The idea that Republicans are conservative is just that, an idea
- The idea that Republicans are fiscally responsible is just that, an idea
Time and again, for the past two years Republicans have left no ambiguity who and what they are loyal to, one thing they all have in common: their loyalty is not to the United States of America. And even the loss of the 2018-midterm elections to the Democrats had done nothing to change their minds; they’ve expressed no concern whatsoever about the damages done to the country by the Trump administration with their complicity.
I agree at heart with what mducheiney is saying to the effect that Trump is totally deserving of impeachment, but, as I’ve said, I worry a lot that his impeachment, followed by failure to convict by the Senate, might strengthen Trump’s political standing (see Bill Clinton), and thereby lead to a second Trump term as President, which would absolutely be the worst possible outcome.
