Who Lies As Frequently As the Devil?

Despite the “annoying” ritual, I acquired very good habits over time, one of which is to always tell the truth, regardless what we kids knew the consequences of not abiding by that principle would bring. Somehow, our parents always found out the truth, and the kids who lied would pay a much bigger price: longer punishment time. To drive it home and make it the principle to live by, my father would always spare (not punish) the kid who told the truth for an offense which deserved punishment. The guilty party would not get away with it altogether but my father – who was the enforcer – wanted us to grow up with the habit of always, always telling the truth.
