A day which has been celebrated in memory of freeing a colony – the United States of America – from the grips of English kings and queens. Since, the United States has fought wars (side by side with other nations) to free their people of tyrants, authoritarians, dictators.
This 4th of July calls NOT for celebration but rather for reflection, for determination to keep our nation from becoming a dictatorship or tolerating a tyrant as its leader.
The DIMMING lights of fireworks should be a reminder to us all that our complacency could be complicit of our own fate, of the fate of the Republic.
May this day be a renewal of our commitment to free ourselves from the grips of authoritarians (foreign or domestic)!
