To serve and protect is gibberish in the black communities; they are regularly harassed by police officers, antagonized, brutalized, framed, civil rights violated, arrested on bogus charges or killed. Forgive them all if they don’t buy into the “to serve and protect” slogan!
By now you must have seen or heard about the Georgia police officer, Lt. Greg Abbott, who told a White motorist not to be afraid because you know “they only kill black people”.
While most people focus on the words which were uttered in that encounter and shake their heads in disbelief, Blacks in the United States cringe because those are not mere words. Their families, their friends and acquaintances have paid with their lives.
