Why Are We Back to the Darkest Era of American History?
From Barack Obama a president who, despite all odds (and there were plenty), brought decency and respect into the presidency to Donald Trump who, in addition to being the least qualified president in the history of the Republic, brought shame to the country and disrespect to the presidency.
How did we get here?
The answer is as simple as the implication of the question is complex. From Barry Goldwater, GOP nominee in the 1964 presidential election to Donald Trump, GOP nominee in the 2016 presidential election, everyone in the Republican Party is responsible; but the bulk of the blame lays now at the door of Fox Opinion, known and referred to by most as Fox News.
Before Donald Trump, a) there was Barry Goldwater who did not hide his disdain for blacks and did everything to sideline them b) there was Ronald Reagan who i) coined the “welfare queen” expression, a derogatory term to refer to blacks in general ii) supported the apartheid (policies of racial segregation under a system of legislation in South Africa) iii) cut funding for all education programs designed to help minority obtain trade education to better their lives; Mr. Reagan instead channeled the money to building more jails.
