So, why in the world would Newt Gingrich want to be Trump’s Chief of Staff? Much like a mistress who believes she has the “right stuff” the man needs but the wife can’t provide, Newt is convinced he can manage Trump and be the second most powerful man in the Oval Office. Whether he would be able to make a dent where Reince has failed is debatable; in the meantime, Newt is focused on getting that post, and it seems almost certain that Donald Trump might indeed extend an offer. Since there is no confirmation needed for the post, it would be a done deal.
Since Newt has waded before in the swamps of Washington, he might just be what Donald Trump needs to avoid drowning in the new, filthy nevertheless, swamp he has created.
