Noelle Santos of the Bronx is not asking nicely but we should support her initiative anyway. The Bronx which has a population of roughly 1.5 million residents is without a single bookstore as of this writing. Unbelievable, isn’t?
Last year, Barnes & Noble failed to renew the lease and was thus forced to close the only bookstore in the Bronx. So, Noelle Santos took the initiative to reignite the spirit of reading. She sets out to open the first independent bookstore in the city but she needs your help.
Your contribution of any amount will help her reach the goal of $100,000 to set the Bronx “lit” again. You may not reside in the Bronx. In fact, you may not even know what the hell the Bronx is; that’s okay. But you cannot run from the responsibility to educate (or contribute to educate) the next generation.
Ms. Santos has already taken the first and most important step; it’s your turn now. Go to the Indiegogo page where you can contribute to make it crystal clear that you too support her effort to open a bookstore in the Bronx.
Your children and your children’s children will thank you for not letting the city slip into the darkness of illiteracy. Join the #thebronxreads and become a proud contributor.
